Maria Cardos described Mader as “very friendly” and said he used to visit the home every year. An image of the Canadian was allegedly captured on surveillance cameras at a hotel in Pattaya. Police were taken to the hotel by a Thai citizen under arrest for the original kidnapping. Thai police have also obtained a copy of Mader’s passport. Meanwhile the alleged victim has been returned to his mother. “Police say he has been abused in a number of different ways and I presume they will be using doctors to get medical evidence” reported Drummond. “(Mader’s) passport was issued in Jakarta Indonesia so he may well not have been in Canada for quite some time.

Numerous nations–notably India Singapore Thailand and Malaysia–are making a lot of money off the American healthcare system’s problems but it isn’t all bad news for the U. Medical tourism companies are cropping up across the country–approximately 50 so far–and there’s no end in sight. “It’s exploding right now this year” says Josef Woodman author ofPatients Beyond Borders: Everybody’s Guide to Affordable World-class Medical Tourism. “Medical tourism isn’t a gimmick it’s not fun in the sun like the press used to say… Even more telling some American hospitals now have branch hospitals overseas to capitalize on medical tourism. And what about the tourism part anyway? Marsek says that MedRetreat definitely handles the sightseeing arrangements for its clients and while some people have cosmetic surgery on their teeth in Costa Rica and then go snorkeling not everyone is up to the rigors of venturing out after surgery.
