The new properties will open in Bangkok Chiang Rai Chiang Mai Pattaya Ko Samui and other major tourist destinations bringing the company?s portfolio in Thailand to 20 properties by 2009. Senior vice-president Eva Ziegler said: ?As Thailand is a favoured destination of many travellers from Europe and the USA we feel these tourists are likely to choose Le Meridien hotels when they visit Thailand. ? –>CPYRIGHT 2007 Bangkok Post Byline: Chiratas Nivatpumin ct. 1–Corporate fraud in Thailand was expected to increase in the future both in terms of cases and estimated financial losses according to a new survey by professional services company KPMG. Seventy-one percent of respondents in the 2007 Thailand Fraud Survey agreed that fraud was a major problem for business with 58 percent saying it’s a problem in their own companies. Nearly half of the respondents said they knew of specific instances of fraud within their own organisations and 44 percent agreed that fraud would increase over the next two years.

Yet new projects appear to enjoy buoyant sales reports Andrew Bond. The emergence of a small but certain luxury condo market is one of the key characteristics of property in this Northern town which has been overhauling its image somewhat in recent years. The arrival of several five-star hotels and the gentrification of areas such as Nimminhemin road and the Night Bazaar area are signs of confidence in a more cosmopolitan city atmosphere. The city has also noted a marked influx in foreigners becoming residents here and traditionally this sector has supported the existing condo market. Now buildings such as Twin Peaks Kharn Kanok and Punna are offering foreign buyers and residents far more choice. Gone are the days of settling for 40m2 studio units in traditional condo developments. A sense of flair spaciousness and modern living are hallmarks of a new generation of condo buildings for the burgeoning expatriate crowd settling in Chiang Mai… In fact the success of the project has prompted this established Chiang Mai developer to proceed with Karn Kanok V a similar building closer to the Seven Hundred Year Stadium complex. Buyers are due to take full ownership this month although it is unlikely to be fully completed for a few more months. A number of condos are still available for Thai ownership and priced at Bt25000 per square meter they are very good value. Nonetheless it will probably be a good litmus test of just how successfully the luxury market can sustain itself in Chiang Mai. Then there is Punna Residence which is going up on the busy corner of the popular Nimminhemin road and soi 6. The sheer professionalism and thoroughness of the developers notwithstanding their relative youth and lack of experience is enough to convince prospective investors that this building might be the new trendsetter for Chiang Mai. With the cheapest units already sold out 12 months ahead of the planned completion this handsome building still offers an interesting range of choices at roughly Bt35000 per square meter.

Bumrungrad Hospital pioneered the industry and today it’s a marketing machine with a chief executive from the U… Already boasting more than 3000 beds Bangkok Dusit isn’t sitting tight. It’s building 50-bed hospitals in Phnom Penh and Abu Dhabi to provide primary care and refer patients with serious problems to its Bangkok hospitals. There are also branches in the resorts of Koh Samui and Phuket that make a tidy profit serving hotel staff and tourists who fall ill. In January it opened its first hospital overseas in Siem Reap in Cambodia’s Angkor temple region. Bangkok Dusit though may find it hard to keep its winning streak going. utlays for acquisitions and hospital construction are taking a toll; analysts say earnings for this year will come in at only $39. 5 million barely higher than last year’s.
