at home and at work) it uses a local landline number with a SIP provider. therwise it uses GSM as usual. It is also useful when on holiday – I used the SIP service via WLAN from a hotel in Thailand. Much cheaper than either hotel or roaming charges. Re:Sierra Kilo Yankee Papa Echo India Sierra Charlie Romeo Alpha Papa By Anonymous Coward Posted Monday 28th April 2008 20:56 GMTYou mean Skype is a crap tech that needs to go the way of the analogue mobile. Your call to a "landline" overseas in 99% of the cases has gone over VIP. So will your mobile call in some networks (while mobile edge is still TDM or ATM many operators like range operate a purely VIP network for their core call switching).
n ya bike for slice of Bangkok life
NEWS.com.au – Apr 28, 2008
Van Kessel has been running cycling tours of Bangkok for 20 years – and 95 per cent of his customers come from his home country of the Netherlands. He says that as a long-time resident and "self-professed lover of Bangkok" he understands the impression of urban development – gridlocked traffic concrete towers and choking pollution – which has plagued the city’s image. "I had a hunch that this was not what Bangkok or Thailand was about" he says. So he made it his goal to rediscover the city spending thousands of hours on his mountain bike exploring the vast network of local streets alleyways footpaths and canals. He found hidden worlds of peace and tranquillity and a picture of "real" Thai life that has remained unchanged for countless decades. He says the city’s identity is "true to its people yet mostly unknown to outsiders". He discovered the colourful sights and smells of the local markets the fascinating life of people living along the canals and the surprising existence of bountiful green belts… And it’s been his mission ever since to share his discoveries with the rest of the world. So while cruising down canals visiting floating markets or shopping till you drop might be your usual idea of spending time in Bangkok we were up early to cycle through the markets. The tour starts in the Grand China Princess Hotel not far from the Chao Phraya river and Chinatown. There are two tours a day 7am-12. 30pm and 1pm-6pm but different arrangements can be made. It’s surprisingly cool while riding on a muggy day as we try not to knock over stalls full of fruit fish and other products. Thai guides stop traffic to help us pass the busier roads while Van Kessel leads the way.
Diomansy Kamara puts Eriksson in firing line
Telegraph.co.uk – Apr 28, 2008
Ridiculous as it seems following a campaign that has seen City complete a league double over Manchester United and secure a top-10 finish Eriksson’s position is under threat due to Thaksin’s impatience and dreamy ambitions. So with the former prime minister of Thailand sitting in the stands for the first time since he disclosed earlier this month that Eriksson’s role was “under review” it was hardly the most opportune moment for the former England coach’s players to emphasise just how far away City are from hitting Thaksin’s target of Champions League football by the 2010-11 season. If they were unaware of Thaksin’s demands he removed any doubt by giving them full prominence in a three-page call to arms in the programme. “I have a very definite plan a strategy” he said. “The first year top 10; the second year to qualify for Europe; and the third year we want to be in the top four and qualify for the Champions League. We have to fit the plan… “I know from what we have already shown this year that a top-six spot will not be too much pressure but to break into the top four will so that is when I will be prepared to spend a lot of money to take us into the top four. I will not be spending huge amounts of money this summer but the following summer I will. ” Eriksson met Thaksin yesterday to thrash out the way forward the pair enjoying a “cordial” 45-minute meeting at a Manchester hotel during which transfer ins and outs were discussed with CSKA Moscow forward Jo high on Eriksson’s wanted list. No decision will be made on Eriksson’s future until the end of the season but the Swede betrayed the first signs of irritation with the club’s owner following this game when he was asked about the likely topics for discussion with Thaksin. He said: “I don’t need to speak about my future Dr Thaksin does. I have a contract for two more years. But if we want to take the next step then of course we need more players there’s no doubt about that.
