This by-invitation-only organization comprises more than 6000 elite travel advisors associated with over 300 agencies in 22 countries in North and South America the Caribbean Australia and New Zealand. Before The Sarojin was accepted it was put to the test by a committee who undertook a strict reference check from Virtuoso travel agents that have stayed at the resort and those who have sent guests.

The show will run until 10 June. ‘This year we will host more than 800 exhibitors from in excess of 46 countries’ said Maggie Moore Exhibition Director of The Hotel Show. ‘The regional hospitality industry is in dynamic mode and our early projections are not only being realised but exceeded. ‘A recent Hotel Benchmark Survey showed the Middle East hotel industry as one of the fastest growing regions in the world exceeding both Asia Pacific and Europe with a promising outlook for the years to come. The Hotel Show and its associated Seven Star Conference provide a future perspective on key trends and drivers shaping the travel and tourism sector in a region. Brazil Cyprus Greece France Germany Italy Korea Lebanon Malta Pakistan Philippines Portugal Singapore South Africa Spain Taiwan Thailand the UK and the USA are all mounting pavilions. The largest will be that of Spain covering 1143 square metres followed by Germany (984 square metres) Italy (898 square metres) and France (852 square metres). Visitors to The Hotel Show include the region’s key managing directors general managers and hotel operators purchasing managers architects designers consultants agents distributors and developers. Visitor numbers have been increasing exponentially. In 2005 the show attracted 8124 visitors 2006 saw 11500 trade visitors and decision makers at the show and in 2007 event attracted 14289 visitors a 22.

The Jiangsu province native also won the “Most Promising Speaker” title meaning she will represent China at the International Public Speaking competition in London next month. The 19-year-old beat 25 other contestants from the Chinese mainland Taiwan province and Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions to claim the coveted prize. All of the contestants in the grand final at Beijing’s Friendship Hotel delivered a short speech on “Living with globalization”. “It is really unexpected; I am only a second-year student and didn’t give much thought to winning” Zhao said. “Maybe that is one of the reasons I could remain focused and win the prize. In her speech to the 1000 audience members and 12 judges Zhao said it was essential Chinese enterprises moved from a “made-in-China” to a “created-in-China” culture. “China can only gain a cutting edge in the global arena if our enterprises move up the value chain and we create products of our own” she said… “They all showed coherence and fluency. With the contest’s emphasis on cultural exchange two guest speakers from South Korea and Thailand were also invited to join the competition. Sebastian Muench from Thailand said coming to China had been a “fantastic experience” and he had been impressed by the standard of the Chinese presenters. “I think they can all speak wonderful English” he said. Su Yi from East China Normal University won the BBC award for best impromptu speech earning a two-week internship at BBC’s studios in London.
