Dusit Thani projects flat revenue growth for 2009

Accor announces four more hotels for Thailand

In February, Accor announced the development of seven projects in Bangkok, Samui, Phuket, and Krabi under the Novotel, Mercure, and ibis brands. The four latest properties will be developed in partnership with Fico Group, owner of Le Fenix Hotel in Bangkok. They are the Novotel Bangkok Fenix Ploenchit, Novotel Bangkok Fenix Silom, Mercure Samui Fenix and Hotel Muse. Michael Issenberg, Chairman and Chief perating fficer for Accor Asia Pacific, said: “We are very pleased to have strengthened our partnership with Fico, whom also own Le Fenix Hotel in Bangkok, which Accor has managed since 2007.

Man Arrested for Pimping Foreign Prostitutes at Hotel

The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency said it rounded up a total of 24 people including 15 foreign prostitutes four customers and the hotel’s owner identified as Song. f them the 49-year-old pimp identified as Kim was arrested. The prostitutes were mostly from China Uzbekistan and Thailand. According to the police Kim opened a brothel beneath a tourist hotel in Dobong-gu northeastern Seoul in January. In about one month of operation Kim reaped more than 240 million won ($154000) in illegal gains by providing women for sex to customers for about 130000-140000 won ($83-90) per session. The hotel’s owner allowed Kim to exclusively use the building’s fifth floor. During questioning the prostitutes said they landed here on Kim’s promise of earning more than $6000 monthly but it was confirmed that Kim paid them nothing and even assaulted those who resisted.

Centel expanding into budget hotels

But Suthikiati Chirathivat the Centel executive chairman said the firm’s focus this year was on expanding its four-star hotels as well as developing a new line of three-star properties. Centel will also form a new joint venture with an international chain to run budget hotels under the Centara Hotels & Resorts umbrella. The project could start in 2010. Centel will begin by building and managing its own hotels and expand later to hotel management services.
